Maren Oslac – Owner, Lead Instructor

Maren, is a national level Ballroom, Swing and Country instructor, competitor and judge. After 10 years of traveling extensively across the country earning top placements and an exceptional reputation, she retired in 2008, to allow her to develop and grow the local dance community. Her passion for teaching and her desire to share her love of dance led her to open her own studio in Tinley Park, IL and start the Illinois Ballroom Teacher College.  What really drive her is changing people’s lives through the discipline of dance!

Maren carries with her a host of wins and titles in Country, Latin, Ballroom, Hustle and Swing, including more wins than she can count in her favorite arenas, Strictly Swing and Jack & Jill competitions. For 4 years of her competition career, she had the privilege of competing in the Open Classic division of West Coast Swing with Jason Miklic. Together, they consistently placed in the top 5 in the nation throughout their partnership! Check them out on You Tube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbe52piPoVY

Kat Warner – Instructor

Kat began line dancing for fun at the age of eight. She danced with her family not knowing she was paving the path to her destiny. After graduating college with a double major in technical theatre and studio fine arts, she returned home. She consistently worked odd jobs to make ends meet while following her dream by substitute teaching line dance for Janet Kruse (her mother.) As she fell further in love with teaching, she decided to work toward turning her dream to a career.

In the late summer of 2016, Kat was introduced to Maren Oslac through an interview with her team of instructors. Maren opened the door to an opportunity and Kat joined the Heart and Sole dance family. She currently is teaching line dance, swing, ballroom, and country couples. She has a special love for choreography and for coaching wedding couples, (father-daughter / mother-son dances.) She is passionate about teaching as well as training for competition in the swing and country dance circuits.

Riley Wimes – Instructor

Riley has been with Heart & Sole Dance since Maren opened the studio in 2008. He was instrumental in HSD becoming the success that it is today and will always hold a very special place at the studio. Riley brings a varied background with him which serves him well as an instructor.

Riley is known for fitness; but his Swing, Lindy Hop, Salsa and DeeJaying backgrounds show up in all that he does. He is an unstoppable machine!

Helen Pacek – Instructor

Helen comes from an amazing background of Ballet, Modern and Ice Skating. Her love of dance led her to the Ballroom Teacher College where she began to integrate her extensive knowledge of movement into the smooth, latin and swing dances.

In the summer of 2017, Helen began training some of the Heart & Sole Dance competitors, which led to her regular Adult Ballet classes and beginning to teach the joyful wedding couples and her favorite classes – the youth classes!

Paul Meyers – Instructor

Paul has been dancing for most of his life in a variety of genres and styles ranging from ballet, modern, ballroom, and plenty of others. He has been teaching full time for the last five years and many of his students have been successful competitors. When not dancing he enjoys reading and martial arts..

In the late summer of 2017, Paul joined the Heart & Sole Dance team! He teaches an awesome advanced technique class and works with ballroom competitors and pro-am students. He has a special love for training for competition, and currently competes Smooth with his professional partner.

Management

Colleen Dooley-Saldez – Studio Manager

In 2009, Colleen moved out to CA to begin a career post-production for films and TV where she gained experience as a production coordinator and engineer.

She was introduced to the world of Pole Fitness in 2010, which blossomed her love for movement and dance. Between 2009-2013, she trained with National champions in Pole, Lyra, and Silks.

She received her Pilates Method Alliance certification in 2011 and merged her skill set for pole and pilates together. From there, shewent on to teach Pole fitness, contortion, stretch and flex, and Pole-ates.

Colleen is extremely passionate about dance and movement and since moving back to IL and having a baby in 2016, she is hoping to fall in love all over again with dance and movement.

Monica – Technology Diva

Monica’s love for music started young with the musical notes of everything from Nat King Cole to Pearl Jam floating through her home (and might be why she loves The Edsels just as much as Ace of Base). She combined her love of music and technology into a beautiful symphony and graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Performing Arts Management.

While expanding her knowledge in everything technological, Monica finds excitement in solving problems and addressing the “little” details. She considers herself a student in all aspects of life. When not tucked behind her computer, she can be found; hanging out upside down, lifting heavy things, watching large amounts of tennis, and doing all things handy.

…our instructors are qualified to work with everyone from raw beginners to advanced dancers and competitors, I wouldn’t have it any other way!
