I’m new to dancing… what can I expect?

Ballroom, swing and salsa are fun and exciting ways to get exercise and meet new people. Dancers of all ages enjoy dancing… it’s easy to learn and offers more benfits than you can imagine! (Click here for Wedding Dance options, and here for Youth Specific Programs)

What’s the Best Place to Start?

There are two options for learning to dance, group classes and private lessons. Private lessons are the quickest way to learn, and everyone is different. Many of our dancers take advantage of our best option, a combination of group classes and private lessons.

Our Private Dance Lessons are Better

Private lessons are an essential part of learning to dance for both couples and individuals. At Heart & Sole Dance, we eschew the one size fits all approach that you find at most chain studios and we cater to you.

You will be matched up with one of our highly trained teachers based on your needs and interests. Whether you want to learn to dance for social functions, to meet new people or even to perform or compete one day, your private lesson teacher works with you towards your specific goal(s).

Why You Should Take Private Dance Lessons?

Schedule: Private lesson times are available to fit YOUR schedule

Best Way To Learn: Private lessons allow you to progress at your own pace, whether it be fast or slow. (You will find that you’ll progress most quickly in private lessons.)

Interest: You and your instructor are working towards your goals, so you can try many different dances and even switch things up as you go.

Other Important Tidbits

  • Private Lessons at HSD are 50 minutes long! They begin and end promptly at the scheduled time.
  • Please arrive 5 minutes in advance to make sure that you are ready to begin on time.
  • Several Private Lessons will likely be going on at the same time as yours, we share our floor space to make lessons affordable.
  • Shoes with leather or non-sticky rubber soles are recommended. Dance shoes are best, but not required. Ladies: please wear shoes that do not fall off your feet. Flip flops are not very good for dancing. Closed toe shoes are not a bad idea.
  • Students must call at least 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Lessons canceled less than 24 hours notice will be charged a cancelation fee.

Regular Adult Rates

Since we don’t do a one-size fits all, we can’t know what options are best for you until we talk to you! So, we offer a Free, No Hassle, Consultation with one of our instructors. You’ll sit at the front of our bright studio, where you can check out all the comings and goings and how we teach. You’ll chat about what you want, and we’ll give you ideas of how we can help you make that happen, your options, and all the costs entailed.

Semi-Private Lessons

Have a few friends interested in dancing? Can’t make a group class because of a schedule conflict? Want to take a class with only your friends?

Semi-Private Lessons are a great way for 4-8 people (often times couples) to set their own time for a group class. Call us to customize your own semi-private lesson!
