Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions!

Do I need a partner?

No.  Singles and couples are always welcomed.  We do require you to pre-register so that the ratio of leaders to followers is always close to 50/50.  We can't always guarantee a fully balanced class, and we do our best.  Our instructors are there to partner extra leaders or followers.

 What should I wear?

For class or dancing, nice casual clothing is appropriate. In consideration of your partners, men should not wear tank tops or sleeveless shirts, and ladies should avoid backless dresses.  You will need shoes that stay on your feet, and which will pivot on the dance floor.  With experience, you will be able to choose shoes that are neither too sticky or slick.  Beach style sandals are inappropriate.  Cowboy boots and other heavy or large shoes are discouraged, since they limit your movement.

Be sure to shower, wear deodorant, and brush your teeth before dancing...you will be in close contact with others!

How long will it take me to learn to dance?

Dancing is simple and fun and well worth whatever time and energy you have to put into it!  Learning to dance is like learning a new language.  You can choose to learn a few catch phrases, or really master the language!

The best place to start is in our Absolute Beginner Class (Ballroom ABCs) or one of our other 100 series classes.

 Which class(es) should I take?

Beginners and those new to dance should take the
Absolute Beginner Class (Ballroom ABCs) or one of our other 100 series classes.

Ballroom ABCs is for beginners and teaches the basic of 6 dances from the ground up.  It is designed so that students learn all the basic moves and technique.

Additional dances are offered at a begginer level as well.  All '100' level classes are appropriate for beginners. Intermediate dancers benefit from reviewing th classes.

Intermediate classes are designed for those that know the basics and want to learn more advanced patterns, technique and footwork variations.
